The Golden State Warriors will face another big challenge in the 2023 NBA offseason. The Dubs couldn’t defend their NBA championship and now need to make some changes to the roster.
Jordan Poole could be one of those changes after his underwhelming season. Stephen Curry discussed Poole’s future with the team, keeping it real about what can happen in the future (8:09 mark).
“Everybody’s going to get better. Everybody’s going to take the next step. Everybody’s going to learn the lessons that you learned this year and try to put them into use next year,” said Curry. “I don’t know what the opportunity is going to be. I don’t know what the roster will look like. I don’t know what, sitting here right now, what Opening Night is going to look like in terms of who’s going to be asked to do what, but I have a lot of confidence in everybody being able to take advantage of the summer.”
Moreover, the four-time NBA champion urged the rest of his team to work on their games this offseason. He doesn’t know who will come back or who won’t but wants to see everybody putting in the work to bounce back and have a better chance at the title.
“Add to your skill set. Add to your mental preparation for the year,” Curry said. “And the list of guys that kind of fall in that bucket, be ready to take those next steps because that’s the journey of your career that you’re always on. So, it’s just hard to say specifics right now about what it will look like because this league is crazy, and things can change really quickly.”
The Warriors’ management is reportedly convinced they can run it back with their original Big 3, as they don’t show signs of slowing down. However, after Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, anything can happen for the Warriors.
They know the game is constantly evolving, and if they don’t assemble a better team next season, the Dubs will struggle again to win another title.
Jordan Poole Has Been Linked With A Trade Away From Warriors
Poole has been mentioned in a series of traded around the NBA. One of the most ambitious sends him to Boston, alongside Andrew Wiggins, in exchange for Jaylen Brown and Malcolm Brogdon.
This summer can be a big one for the Warriors. They’re ready to bounce back after their elimination against the Lakers, but if they don’t make the right moves, it’ll be hard to be back at the top of the NBA.
