Scarlett Johansson denies ‘silly’ rumors that she was in an elevator with Benicio del Toro

Two-time Oscar nominee Scarlett Johansson has officially denied an old rumor that she once had sex in an elevator with her Avengers: Infinity War castmate Benicio del Toro, but she didn’t name him.

‘That was a story that followed me for a long time,’ the 37-year-old former child star explained on TheSkimm’s 9 to 5ish podcast streaming Tuesday at 9pm EST.

Scarlett (pictured March 16) continued: 'I was always thinking to myself, "That would be tough. It's a very short period, the logistics of that seem so unappealing to me." I'm a person who's terrified of being caught doing something I'm not supposed to be doing. So that made the story even that much more absurd to me'

The Chateau Marmont elevator rumor reportedly originated in an Esquire interview where the 55-year-old Oscar winner acted coy.

‘Did I ever have sex in an elevator with Scarlett Johansson after an awards show?’ Benicio repeated.

'The industry has been very welcoming!' Johansson was promoting her eco-conscious skincare company The Outset, which she co-founded earlier this year with former beauty/fashion executive Kate Foster Lengyel (R, pictured March 11)

‘I kind of like, you know, I, well. I don’t know. Let’s leave that to somebody’s imagination. Let’s not promote it. I’m sure it has happened before. It might not be the last time either.’

‘The most surprising thing about it has been how welcoming the industry is. I didn’t anticipate that,’ Johansson gushed.
