MCU actor Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Hart will star in Peacock’s true crime limited series about Muhammad Ali.
Pulp Fiction and Marvel’s Samuel L. Jackson is set to star in Peacock’s upcoming true crime limited series, Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist.
Peacock ordered the series in December 2023, and Variety reports the limited series will have the MCU star playing the notorious gangster Frank Moten, also known as “the Black Godfather” in the tabloids. Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist is based on the podcast Fight Night, and it also stars Kevin Hart, who will executive produce the series alongside Will Packer, who also produces the podcast. The limited series will reunite Jackson with Craig Brewer, as the two previously collaborated on 2006’s Black Snake Moan. Brewer is set to direct two episodes of the series.
The upcoming Peacock limited drama Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist will follow the night of Muhammad Ali’s historical comeback fight against Jerry Quarry on October 26, 1970. Before this fight, Ali had been banned from boxing after refusing to enter the military draft. The drama series, which will be set in Atlanta, Georgia, will focus on the infamous armed robbery story that took place at an after-party with hundreds of guests, and became one of the largest armed robberies.
The official description states that it will tell “the infamous story of how an armed robbery during the night of Muhammad Ali’s historic 1970 comeback fight changed not only one man’s life, but an entire city’s destiny.” The Peacock miniseries is created and written by Shaye Ogbonna (The Chi), who will also serve as showrunner and executive producer alongside Jason Horwitch (Echo 3).
