Ever since Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson had a fallout with his co-stars from Fast and Furious, he stepped away from the franchise. Even though he had previously announced that he would appear in the 9th and 10th installments of the film, he did not share any scenes in the film. And the public fallout with Vin Diesel just added fuel to the fire.
But it looks like The Rock is going to make his return to the franchise as Luke Hobbs, and it will be another spin-off film of the Fast and the Furious Universe. Sadly, fans of the franchise will only see Hobbs in the untitled film, and this film will be related to the Fast saga, serving as a bridge between Fast X and Fast X: Part II.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Returns To The Fast and The Furious Universe
When Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson appeared in the post-credits scene of the tenth installment of the movie, fans around the globe rejoiced at the actor’s return. And it looks like the celebrations will not be over any time soon because Johnson went to Twitter to announce that he is returning to the franchise, despite having differences with Vin Diesel.
“So, I’m 100% confirming to you guys around the world, that yes, it is true Hobbs is back. Hobbs is back in the Fast and Furious franchise.”
The Black Adam actor shared that he will reprise the role of Luke Hobbs in the untitled film, and the production for the film is in active development. However, this film will not be another spin-off film presented by Universal and the franchise, as it will be serving as a bridge between Fast X and Fast X: Part Two. Unfortunately, Hobbs’ best friend, Deckard Shaw will not be part of the film.
Have Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel Resolved Their Difference?
After the release of The Fate of the Furious in 2018, Dwayne Johnson publicly criticized his co-stars for their professionalism and referring them as “chicken sh*t,” and “candy a**es,” later having a public fallout with Vin Diesel. However, the actor deleted the tweet criticizing his co-stars, and in the video, he explained that he has an “audience first” mentality, and the plans which show a bigger picture helped him in keeping his differences aside.
“In terms of the why, I think when you despite us having our difference, me and Vin [Diesel], we’ve been brothers for like years and despite having our differences, when you lead with the idea of number one resolve. But then, also you think about the future, you think about the plans that are much bigger than ourselves, and those bigger plans are the bigger buildouts. Those bigger plans are the north star, as I would like to say.”
“The north star is always my guiding light in whatever endaevour or opportunity that I am in, that I’m passionate about, I always keep a north star in my clarity and in my obsession. And in this case, the north star is the franchise that we love, the north star are characters we love, and the north star are the fans that we love. When you add all that up, its really not a hard decision to make. It’s a yes. So Yes.”
While the cast and plot of The Rock’s untitled film are still under secret, fans can expect to see Jason Momoa reprising his role of Dante Reyes, and he will be going against Luke Hobbs, as the actor had confirmed in the video.
